Turning Complex Solutions into Clear Value

Challenge

UpSol designs and delivers battery energy storage solutions for businesses and regional operators across Australia, helping organisations reduce energy costs and get more value from renewable energy.

It is a highly technical business, but the people making decisions about energy investment are not always energy specialists. UpSol needed to communicate with a diverse range of potential clients and stakeholders — from business owners and operational leaders to technical specialists — each with different levels of knowledge and different priorities.

UpSol knew its technology inside out. The challenge was translating that expertise into a story that was clear, accessible and meaningful to clients.

Complex technical information needed to become accessible and commercially relevant without losing credibility. At the same time, proposals were being developed largely from scratch for each opportunity, creating unnecessary work and making it harder to tell a clear and consistent story.

What We Did

Vant worked closely with the UpSol team to understand the business from the inside out — its technology, services, audiences, commercial model and what differentiates it in a rapidly evolving energy market.

We developed a clear narrative and suite of key messages that translated complex technical concepts into straightforward, accessible language, while retaining the technical rigour that underpins UpSol's offer.

Importantly, we shifted the communication from being led by the technology to being led by what matters to the client — the problem they need to solve, the commercial opportunity and the value UpSol can create.

This gave the team a consistent way to explain the business across proposals, presentations, stakeholder conversations and new business discussions.

Vant also developed a suite of proposal templates that created a repeatable structure for new business opportunities. The templates established the core UpSol story and standard content while leaving room for the team to tailor each proposal to the client's site, energy profile, objectives and commercial opportunity.

Outcome

UpSol now has a clearer, more consistent and compelling way to communicate what it does and why it matters.

Its proposals lead with the client's needs and commercial opportunity, with technical detail supporting the solution rather than overwhelming the story.

The proposal process is also simpler and less reliant on individual team members. Instead of starting again for every opportunity, the team has a strong foundation that can be adapted to each prospective client.

The templates hold the structure, narrative and standard content, allowing UpSol's specialists to focus where their expertise adds the most value — the site, the numbers and the conversation.
